The Tree House is suspended among mānuka and kānuka on the upper edge of the estate. A peek-through-trees view of Medlands Beach, an elevated deck built into the canopy, and a deep red clawfoot bath that opens to the treetops — that's become its signature. Especially good for families — where the kids get their own bunk room, deck and hammocks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What fire and carbon monoxide safety equipment is provided?

Every 175° East house has smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, fire extinguishers and a first-aid kit.

Is there WiFi?

Yes — Starlink satellite WiFi is available. The network name and password are provided in your booking confirmation.

How does the power work?

Tree House runs on solar power with battery backup. A backup generator supports the whole property if needed, so you're never left without power. During cloudy days or evenings the system may switch to battery — use larger appliances during the sunniest part of the day and be mindful of power use after dark.

Is there cell coverage on Great Barrier Island?

Coverage on Great Barrier Island can be patchy, especially on beaches and bush walks. We recommend downloading offline maps before you arrive. Starlink WiFi is available at the property for internet access.

How do I check in?

The house will be unlocked on arrival. If you find it closed, call Ian on +64 21 0284 4486 and he'll direct you to the spare key. Full check-in instructions are included in your booking confirmation.

What linen and toiletries are provided?

Everything you need — bed linen, shower towels, beach towels, tea towels, and bathmats. Soap and shampoo in the bathrooms. Kitchen basics including oil, flour, sugar, tea, salt, pepper, and cleaning products are all stocked.

Is there a TV and music?

Yes — Samsung smart TV with TVNZ+ pre-loaded for live and on-demand NZ television. Log into your own streaming apps (Netflix etc.) and log out before you leave. Each house also has a Sonos speaker system, connectable via WiFi or Bluetooth.

How does water work?

Water is collected on-site. It's plentiful but please use it thoughtfully — island living at its best.

How does rubbish and recycling work?

General rubbish goes in the red-lidded council bin at the bottom of the driveway on Mason Road. Recycling (bottles and cans) goes in the yellow bin on the deck.

Does Tree House have laundry facilities?

No. Tree House does not currently have a washing machine or dryer.
